The secret of both the "St Jean de Fos" and the 16C Collection's high quality is in the hand firing which is expertly controlled by master potters to ensure that the clay reaches the correct temperature to create the beautiful finish and provide longevity. Under such controlled temperatures each pot is fired long enough and hot enough to resist frost damage. However, they are also chemically treated for further frost resistance.
The clever glazing on the "St Jean de Fos" range gives each pot its unique aged effect - both during the firing and afterwards by sandblasting it.
Frost Damage:
We recommend that in winter to protect the pot against cracking (should the earth get waterlogged and frozen) it is best to line the inside of the pot with bubble wrap or a thin sheet of foam, which will protect the outer surface from inner movement.
It is a good idea to ensure adequate drainage and that the pots are not exposed to severe weather conditions. For extra protection an outer layer of bubble wrap or plastic sheeting can be wrapped around the pots during the worst of the weather.
When moving a vase with a 'foot' base it is best to drag them into position rather than roll them.
These pots are designed to become even more beautiful with age and you can give the garden a splash of colour all year round.
